Coil Carriers

We pride ourselves at specialising in Buying, Selling and Hiring Coil Carrier Trailers.

Coil Carrier Trailer, Coil Well Trailer, Slidaflex Coil Carrier and Sliding Hood Coil Carrier Trailer are all names you might hear assioated to this type of trailer. A flatbed Trailer with a Coil Well that has removable wellboards from the centre of the trailer bed. Once the wellboards are removed, a V-shape is opened in the centre of the chassis known as the Coil Well. This is for Steel Coils to be transported on there horizontal axis. Having the Coil sit in the Coil well lowering the vehicle's centre of gravity furthermore improving the load security and safety for driver, other road users and pedestrians.

We started off as a Transport company and soon realised that Steel transport in particular was our calling. This lead us to purchasing Coil Carrier Trailers to transport the steel coils. The huge benefits of having a Coil Carrier is that the Coil Well can be covered with wellboards, effectivley giving you the abilty to use the whole bed of the trailer.

In the early days, A Flatbed Coil Carrier was just the perfert trailer. Having a Coil Well down the centre of the trailer, Starting at the neck and ending at the rear of the bed inbetween the chassis rails. These Coil Well's provide the ideal place to hold the coil while in transit, normally strapped or chained in place under a rope and sheet protected from the rain.

It wasn't long before the Sliding Canopy Slidaflex body kit was being fitted to trailers to make the drivers day more safe and efficient.  Unlike Curtainsiders and Euroliners, the Slidaflex body would give access to the crane operator the ability to lift coil off the trailer from the side. As the canopy of the trailer is attached to steel frames with carriages that can be released from the headboard and slide to the rear or alternatively released from the rear and slide to the front.

The ideal Coil Well has to be a deep and wide steel structure and lined with timber and rubber. The deeper the well the better the Coil sit inside them. Posts and Sockets need to be in the correct spacing along the Coil Well to create load restriant barriers  to prevent the load from moving.
